View original imageGwangju Nambu Fire Station announced on May 9 that it held a ceremony for the inauguration and retirement of the chief of the Women's Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The event, which took place at the Gwangju CGI Center, was attended by more than 100 guests, including Kim Byungnae, Mayor of Nam-gu, city council members Lim Miran and Seo Imseok, and Nam-gu Council Chairman Nam Hohyun.
The fire station presented an award of merit to outgoing chief Seo Miyoung in recognition of her dedicated leadership in various firefighting support duties during her tenure, as well as her contributions to community development and public safety.
Newly appointed chief Choi Youngsook was first appointed to the Women's Volunteer Fire Brigade in October 2014 and has since served as a close supporter of firefighters with a strong sense of duty at various disaster sites.
Park Chunghoon, chief of Gwangju Nambu Fire Station, expressed his gratitude to outgoing chief Seo Miyoung for her efforts in establishing the Women's Volunteer Fire Brigade as it is today, and asked for continued encouragement and support for the activities of new chief Choi Youngsook.
