This year, Museum and Art Museum Week will be held under the theme 'Rapidly Changing Communities and the Future of Museums'.
The Ulsan Petroglyph Museum has prepared a variety of programs to widely promote the value of the Bangucheon Petroglyphs, which are currently being considered for World Heritage inscription, and to express wishes for their successful registration.
First, on May 5, Children's Day, a variety of hands-on activities will be offered under the theme 'Children's Day with the Bangucheon Petroglyphs'.
Main programs include: ▲'Animal Stories of Bangucheon', where children can encounter animals depicted in the petroglyphs through origami and clay modeling; ▲'Creating Our Own Bangudae Petroglyphs', a collaborative artwork where participants color a large canvas; ▲'A Day in the Life of a Little Explorer', a museum exploration activity guided by petroglyph-themed worksheets; and ▲'Let's Play with Patterns!', a face painting event using petroglyph motifs. These programs are designed to engage and encourage participation from young visitors.
In addition, ▲on May 8 and 20, 'Museum School in the Forest', where participants make mood lights using crystal clay and bulb bottles; ▲on May 10 and 17, the 'Exhibition Guide Program', where teenagers can experience being exhibition guides themselves; and ▲on May 17 and 24, the 'Youth Creative Theater', which presents stories of the Bangucheon Petroglyphs, are also scheduled.
Furthermore, on May 18, International Museum Day, a 'Bangucheon Petroglyphs World Heritage Inscription Wish Concert' will be held in collaboration with Uljoo Cultural Foundation's performance delivery program. On May 31, a hands-on program called 'Petroglyph Workshop', where participants can draw directly on stones, will also be offered.
