National Pukyong University Professors Oh Jung Hwan and Sudip Mondal's Team Selected for Cover Article in International Journal
Research on the Application of the New Material 'MXene' in the Field of Biomedicine
National Pukyong University (President Bae Sanghoon) announced on April 29 that a study by the research team led by Professor Oh Jung Hwan (Department of Biomedical Engineering) and Professor Sudip Mondal (Digital Healthcare Research Center) has been selected as a cover (back cover) article in the international journal 'SmartMat' (IF: 15.3), published by Wiley.

The published article presents research findings on the application of MXene, a novel material that has recently attracted attention, in the field of biomedicine, serving as a milestone for further research development in this area.
MXene is a two-dimensional nanomaterial composed of alternating layers of metal and carbon. Due to its high electrical conductivity and the ability to combine with various compounds for use in diverse fields, it is often referred to as a "dream material." The research team explored the potential of this new material in biomedicine and outlined strategies for its application in advanced biomedical fields in the paper.
The research team includes Professor Oh Jung Hwan, Master’s student Tinat Lin Phan, Professor Sudip Mondal, and Professor Umapada Pal from Benem?rita Universidad Aut?noma de Puebla in Mexico, who collaborated to achieve these results.
Professor Sudip Mondal stated, "We expect that this research achievement will serve as an opportunity to advance research in the field of biomedicine and to promote global research collaboration."
This research was supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and the 2024 Global Joint Research Program of National Pukyong University.
