Suwon City Conducts Surprise Inspections of School Meal Ingredient Suppliers... All Rated "Excellent"
All joint purchasing companies supplying food ingredients for school meals in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, received an "Excellent" rating following inspections by Suwon City.
Suwon City's inspection team announced on April 25 that it had conducted unannounced on-site inspections from April 7 to April 21 at a total of 10 companies participating in the city's school meal ingredient supplier recommendation project. The inspections covered 5 seafood companies, 4 kimchi companies, and 1 processed food company.

View original imageThe main inspection items included: cleanliness and temperature management at food ingredient processing and handling sites; management of product storage and expiration dates; management of legal documentation and on-site hygiene; and management of raw materials, sub-ingredients, and on-site supply.
As a result of the inspections, all 10 companies scored 95 points or higher out of a possible 100, earning an "Excellent" rating from Suwon City.

A Suwon City official stated, "We will regularly inspect food ingredient suppliers and conduct safety tests on food ingredients," adding, "We will thoroughly manage the process to ensure that healthy and safe school meals are provided to students during their growth period."
