Democratic Party: "Prosecution's Railroaded Indictment... A Group of Political Gangsters"
"Yoon Sukyeol's Political Prosecutors' Last Desperate Act"
"Using Former President Moon Jaein as a Scapegoat"
On April 24, the Democratic Party strongly protested the prosecution's decision to indict former President Moon Jaein on bribery charges related to the employment of his former son-in-law, denouncing it as a "railroaded indictment" and calling the prosecutors a "group of political gangsters."

The committee criticized, "The prosecution's 'lightning indictment' of former President Moon is incomprehensible in every aspect, from timing to content," and called it "the last desperate act of Yoon Sukyeol's political prosecutors."
They further pointed out, "The investigation into former President Moon's former son-in-law was, from the outset, intended to harass, humiliate, and insult the former president, his family, and related individuals," and described it as "an investigation tailored to fit a predetermined conclusion."
Additionally, they stated, "Only a month has passed since the prosecution notified former President Moon of a summons, and yet, without any investigation of the person involved, they have suddenly rushed to indict him. This is a clear abuse of prosecutorial power." They continued, "There must be a clear motive behind the prosecution's excessive and retaliatory indictment. With an early presidential election approaching, they have resumed their political maneuvering."
Chief spokesperson Cho Seungrae said in a briefing at the National Assembly Communication Office that afternoon, "The regime of prosecutorial dictatorship has already ended with the people's revolution of light. The people will also deliver a stern judgment against the political prosecutors," and added, "The Democratic Party will faithfully carry out prosecutorial reform in accordance with the will of the people."
Several opposition figures also voiced criticism of the prosecution through social media on the same day.
Yoon Konyoung, a Democratic Party lawmaker who served as chief of the National Situation Room at the Blue House during the Moon Jaein administration, stated, "The prosecution's behavior is incomprehensible unless it is an attempt to obscure the tragic downfall of Yoon Sukyeol by putting former President Moon on trial." He added, "The prosecution's railroaded indictment cannot be explained by anything other than a political calculation to influence the upcoming early presidential election."
Park Jumin, another lawmaker from the same party, said, "The prosecution could not even touch Kim Keonhee, for whom there is even video evidence of receiving actual bribes, yet they indicted former President Moon based solely on fabricated and forced claims." He continued, "A prosecution that cannot address real crimes but instead invents crimes that do not exist has no reason to exist any longer."

Lee Wontak commented, "This is the prosecution's last-ditch effort," and added, "Because their main activities are dusting off, witch hunts, and delusional or fabricated investigations, they are not a prosecution but a group operating at the level of political gangsters."
