With the final touring primary in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, and Jeju scheduled for April 27, and a TV debate set for April 25, the candidates are each spending two days in Honam, focusing their efforts on defending their stronghold.
Honam is considered a symbolic region and is often called a "political barometer" for gauging the direction of party supporters, making the competition among the candidates particularly intense.
Candidate Lee Jaemyung is visiting Honam for a two-day, one-night schedule starting on this day, beginning with a roundtable on renewable energy in Saemangeum, Jeonbuk, and meeting with party members at Jeonil Building in Gwangju to discuss the "spirit of democratization citizens." Kim Gilja, the mother of the late Moon Jaehak, the real-life protagonist of the novel "The Boy Is Coming," will also attend this event. The following day, Lee will continue with a roundtable on agricultural policy in Naju, Jeonnam.
Candidate Kim Kyungsoo will visit Dongbu Market in Mokpo, Muan, and Suncheon in Jeonnam on this day, meeting with party members and citizens. Among the candidates, Kim was the first to visit Honam and began his efforts to win voters' support early on.
Candidate Kim Dongyeon will hold a roundtable with party members in Jeonbuk and visit Hwangryong Market in Jangseong, Jeonnam. He will then hold a roundtable at the Korea Photonics Technology Institute in Gwangju on the topic of "Gwangju Industry and Jobs." A meeting with party members in Gwangju is also scheduled to follow.
