Repeated Fire Hazards and Nighttime Disturbances
As incidents of unauthorized electricity use and disturbances caused by homeless individuals and delinquent youths have repeatedly occurred in the underground shopping mall at Geumnamro, Gwangju, police and merchants have joined forces to establish safety measures.
The Gwangju Police Agency's Mobile Patrol Unit announced on April 23 that, in response to recent requests from merchants in the underground mall, it has collaborated with Gwangju Urban Corporation and the Merchants Association to implement measures aimed at crime prevention and enhancing safety.

At night, disturbances involving alcohol consumption have further increased merchants' anxiety.
In response, the police have posted warning signs informing that unauthorized electricity use constitutes theft, and have strengthened safety facilities by installing additional CCTV cameras and providing fire extinguishers. The area around the underground mall has also been incorporated into patrol routes, with regular patrols being intensified.
A representative from the Gwangju Police Agency stated, "We will cooperate with residents to reduce crime and safety blind spots and increase the public's sense of safety."
