The Saemaeul Association of Sangju, Gyeongbuk, visited Yeongdeok County, which has been struggling due to wildfire damage, to deliver donations and carry out volunteer activities, offering warmth and support.
The Saemaeul Association of Sangju, Gyeongbuk, is visiting Yeongdeok to donate funds for wildfire damage relief.
View original imageOn the 17th, the Saemaeul Association of Sangju visited Yeongdeok County and delivered a donation of 1 million won to support wildfire recovery efforts. They also conducted meal service volunteer activities for residents affected by the disaster.
The wildfire that broke out in Uiseong County, Gyeongbuk, at the end of March spread to Yeongdeok due to strong winds, causing extensive damage. In response, the Saemaeul Association of Sangju donated 1 million won each to five cities and counties most affected by the wildfire?Andong, Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok?for a total of 5 million won.
In addition, leaders from the Saemaeul Council and Women's Association in 24 towns and districts of Sangju voluntarily participated, raising an additional 7 million won. In total, approximately 12 million won will be used for recovery efforts and financial support in the affected areas.
On this day, about 10 executives and staff members of the Saemaeul Association of Sangju participated in the volunteer work, visiting the temporary housing facility at the National Youth Marine Center in Yeongdeok-eup to provide warm meals and comfort to the displaced residents.
Lee Jeonghee, president of the association, said, "Although it is a small gesture, I hope it will help with wildfire recovery efforts," adding, "The Saemaeul Association will continue to provide support and volunteer services so that the displaced residents can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
