Teenager Referred to Prosecution for Live Streaming Reckless Acts on March 1st Movement Day
Announcing Police Crackdowns and Sharing Times and Locations of Street Racing Activities
The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 15th that a teenager, referred to as A, has been referred to the prosecution on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act after conducting a live broadcast while engaging in illegal street racing in Cheonan on the March 1st Independence Movement Day.
A is accused of posting messages from February 28 for three days, asking people to "follow for a March 1st live broadcast," and sharing the locations and times where street racers would gather through TikTok live broadcasts.
A is also accused of making it easier for the crime to be committed by alerting others to police crackdowns and receiving donations from viewers during this process.
The police stated they will thoroughly track and severely punish those who post about illegal street racing on social media and incite such acts through live broadcasts.
A police official said, "We will deploy plainclothes officers to arrest all participants involved in illegal street racing in the Cheonan and Asan areas on commemorative days such as April 19."
