Gangbuk-gu Operates 'Customized Home Visit Exercise Service' for Low-Income Seniors
Selected for District-Specialized Care SOS Service Project
Supporting Functional Recovery through Muscle Activation and More
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 15th that it has been selected for the Seoul Metropolitan Government's district-specialized Care SOS Service contest project and will officially operate the 'Visiting Customized Exercise Service' starting this month.
The 'Visiting Customized Exercise Service' is a Gangbuk-gu specialized project within the existing 'Care SOS' program. Professional staff from institutions partnered with the district visit the homes of elderly residents with mobility difficulties to provide tailored exercise programs. The purpose is to aid not only the recovery of daily life after hospital discharge but also to strengthen physical functions.
The exercise program consists of restoring function through securing joint range of motion and muscle activation, analyzing walking patterns for returning to daily life after discharge, and training to normalize walking patterns. The service can be used free of charge up to 15 times annually, and additional use beyond this limit is possible at the user's own expense.
Eligible recipients are households with elderly residents aged 65 or older whose income is at or below 100% of the median income standard. Residents wishing to use the service can apply by visiting or calling the local community service center in their jurisdiction. After application, the Care SOS officer at the community center will assess eligibility and connect applicants with the service provider.
