Environmental Vice Minister Visits Indonesia... "Supporting Our Green Companies' Expansion"

View original imageThe Ministry of Environment announced on the 11th that Vice Minister Lee Byung-hwa explored ways for Korean companies to enter the green sector in Indonesia, a key partner country of Korea.
From the 9th to the 11th, Vice Minister Lee discussed entry strategies for green companies with local officials. On the 9th in Jakarta, he met with Febrian Alphyanto Rudiyar, Vice Minister of Indonesia's National Development Planning Ministry, to discuss sustainable growth and green transition. They agreed to continue discussions on cooperation in various climate and environmental fields and ways for Korean green companies to enter the market. Local companies operating in Indonesia, whom he met the same day, requested that exchanges in the climate and environmental sectors be prioritized to improve conditions for green industry entry.
On the following day, the 10th, Vice Minister Lee visited Bali and met with Governor Wayan Koster. Governor Koster stated, "The Ministry of Environment's pilot project for electric bus deployment is a core part of Bali's eco-friendly tourism policy," adding, "We hope to expand practical cooperation with Korea, a world-leading automobile exporter, to further promote the adoption of eco-friendly vehicles in Bali." Vice Minister Lee introduced the 'World Environment Day' event to be held in Jeju Island on June 5 and proposed cooperation with Bali.
Vice Minister Lee emphasized, "Our official development assistance (ODA) projects will not only support Indonesia's green transition and sustainable development but also serve as a stepping stone for our green companies to enter the Asia-Pacific market with excellent technology through meticulous and solid support."

Indonesia is a key partner country for Korea's official development assistance (ODA), with Korea participating in various development projects. Korea is investing 28.5 billion KRW to build water supply infrastructure in Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, and supporting a five-year pilot project for electric vehicle charging and infrastructure deployment in Bali with 9.2 billion KRW. A smart water management pilot project is also being conducted in Denpasar City.
