The opposition parties strongly reacted to the prosecution's notification summoning former President Moon Jae-in for investigation over bribery allegations.
The Democratic Party's 'Former Regime Political Oppression Countermeasures Committee' held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office on the afternoon of the 31st, criticizing, "The political prosecution that has sickened democracy will meet its end along with the traitor to the nation, Yoon Seok-yeol."
In the press release, the committee stated, "The prosecution is revealing its ugly desire to save the traitor to the nation Yoon Seok-yeol, who is facing impeachment, through investigations into the Moon Jae-in administration and to complete a prosecutorial coup."
The committee pointed out, "When the prosecution found no gains in investigating the Moon Jae-in administration, it fabricated a bizarre charge by turning the salary of the former son-in-law, who is divorced from Moon's daughter, into bribery."
It continued, "They have repeatedly contacted the former son-in-law's 70-year-old mother dozens of times to intimidate her, confiscated the iPad of an elementary school grandson, and are conducting anti-human rights and illegal investigations through media play by publicizing the suspect's facts."
Furthermore, "The political oppression shown throughout Yoon Seok-yeol's administration, including the West Sea government official shooting incident, the expulsion of heinous criminals in the East Sea, various statistics-related investigations, and the Wolsong nuclear power plant investigation, proves that the origin of the 'eradication of anti-state forces' mentioned in the martial law proclamation was the elimination of political opponents using prosecutorial power."
It added, "The prosecution, which has led political oppression for the past three years and even betrayed the sovereign people by collaborating with the traitor Yoon Seok-yeol in the rebellion involving the president's military, will remain a disgrace in history. If the prosecution does not want to become one of the second Eulsa Five Traitors in 2025 and face historical judgment, it must stop political oppression investigations immediately."

Kim Young-jin, a Democratic Party lawmaker and chair of the countermeasures committee, told reporters right after the press conference, "On the morning of tomorrow (the 1st of next month) at 11 a.m., members of the countermeasures committee will visit the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office, which summoned former President Moon, to convey our position and urge an immediate halt to the investigation."

Yoon Geon-young, also from the same party, criticized, "The written inquiry sent by the prosecution to former President Moon consists of 127 questions in total. It is such an extensive volume that it could be used to write a thesis." He added, "The respect for a former president is so low that not a single item can be found." He further stated, "The reason for insulting and humiliating a former president is a political intention to divert attention from President Yoon," and emphasized, "The Democratic Party's Former Regime Political Oppression Countermeasures Committee will fight against this to the end."
