Pukyong National University G-Lamp Project Group and Center for Earth Environment Convergence Analysis Sign MOU with Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation Marine Environment Research Institute
The G-Lamp Project Group of Pukyong National University (Director: Professor Kim Youngseok) and the Center for Earth Environmental Convergence Analysis (Director: Professor Yang Minjun) signed a mutual cooperation agreement on June 27 with the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation’s Marine Environment Survey Research Institute (Director: Ko Byungseol) for the conservation of the marine environment and ecosystem.

View original imageThis agreement was established to proactively prevent and effectively manage threats to the marine environment and ecosystem. The institutions agreed to combine their strengths to discover joint projects and build a cooperative research system.
The main contents of the agreement include: △ joint planning and operation in the field of marine environment and ecosystem surveys △ joint discovery and research of R&D projects △ shared use of marine environment and ecosystem data △ personnel exchange for fostering and educating professionals △ joint use of research facilities and equipment, among others.
Kim Youngseok, Director of the G-Lamp Project Group, said, “Through this agreement, the leading specialized institutions in the domestic marine environment field have laid the foundation for practical and sustainable joint research and talent development. We will strive to establish a research base that can proactively respond to future changes in the marine environment.”
Yang Minjun, Director of the Center for Earth Environmental Convergence Analysis, stated, “We expect that field-oriented data acquisition and analysis will further strengthen the convergent approach to solving marine environmental issues.”
Ko Byungseol, Director of the Marine Environment Survey Research Institute, said, “This cooperation with Pukyong National University will develop into fostering marine environment experts and sharing infrastructure by combining the characteristics and functions of both institutions, and it will become an important turning point contributing to the conservation of the marine environment and ecosystem.”
This agreement is expected to develop into a collaborative model for the conservation of Korea’s marine environment by combining Pukyong National University’s convergence research capabilities in earth environment with the field-oriented expertise of the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation, addressing local issues as well as national conservation efforts.
