Gyeonggawon to Expand AI and Robotics Collaboration with Chinese Startup Incubation Agency
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency visited Beijing, China on the 27th to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with related organizations to discover promising startups in the AI and robotics sectors within the province and to expand their entry into the Chinese market.
On the 28th, Kim Hyun-gon, the head of the agency, delivered a keynote speech on the achievements and development strategies of Pangyo Techno Valley at the ‘Zhongguancun Korea-China Forum’ and signed MOUs with Zhongguancun Science Success Company and the Global Innovation Center (KIC China), the agency announced on the 30th.
Zhongguancun Science Success Company is a leading institution for fostering high-tech startups established by Haidian District, which oversees Zhongguancun in Beijing. The Global Innovation Center (KIC China) is a government-affiliated startup support organization under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The Zhongguancun Forum is one of China’s three major national-level forums jointly hosted by the State Council and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Known as the Chinese Silicon Valley, Zhongguancun is Beijing’s largest science and technology industrial complex, housing approximately 20,000 high-tech companies.

View original imageThrough this agreement, the agency will identify promising AI and robotics companies in the province and provide consulting and funding support for their entry into the Chinese market. Zhongguancun Science Success Company will assist with settlement support and distribution network linkage within China, while KIC China will be responsible for technology matching and exchange program operations between companies from both countries.
Kim Hyun-gon, head of the agency, stated, "China’s vast domestic market and advanced technology will offer new opportunities for companies in our province. In line with Governor Kim Dong-yeon’s ‘Export Breakwater Construction’ policy, we will make multifaceted efforts to enable technologically capable local companies to enter the Chinese market."

This year, the agency will consolidate its organizational capabilities to strengthen support for local companies’ overseas market entry by focusing on four GBCs in China, including ▲linking with local distribution networks ▲dispatching trade delegations ▲providing export consulting services.
