SATT is a public institution established under the Ministry of Higher Education and Research to commercialize public research outcomes from research institutes and universities in France. The SATT Network operates as an alliance of 13 SATTs, which are local technology transfer promotion organizations in France.

Based on the MOU with the SATT Network, the Special Zone Foundation plans to mutually cooperate to enhance exchanges between innovative companies and investors from both countries through exchange programs such as supporting Special Zone companies’ entry into Europe and linkage with the Horizon Europe program, joint workshops, and networking events.

Horizon Europe is a multinational research and innovation program supported by the European Union (EU) with a budget of 95.5 billion euros (approximately 140 trillion KRW) from 2021 to 2027. Korea officially joined Horizon Europe as an associate member starting January 1, becoming the first Asian country to do so.

The Special Zone Foundation plans to use this MOU as a stepping stone to expand Special Zone companies’ entry into the European market and to build a global joint research ecosystem.

In particular, it will help facilitate smooth international cooperation by linking the excellent research resources and networks possessed by the SATT Network with research institutions and companies within the Special Zone.

Jung Hee-kwon, Chairman of the Special Zone Foundation, said, “It is crucial to establish a system that allows deep-tech companies within the Special Zone to strategically utilize the research resources and networks held by global innovation institutions. The Special Zone Foundation will continue to strengthen partnerships with overseas base institutions to promote the global market entry and joint research activation of Special Zone companies.”
