Suncheon City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that its representative rice brand "Nanwoori" has opened the way for exports to the Philippines again this year, following last year's success. The first export loading ceremony was held on the 27th at the Suncheon Nonghyup Rice Processing Complex.
The loading ceremony was attended by the Executive Director of Suncheon Nonghyup, members of the Suncheon City Council's Culture and Economy Committee, the Chairman of the Export Council, and about 30 other participants including local farmers, reaffirming their commitment to expanding exports of "Made in Suncheon" agricultural specialty products.

The rice processed by Suncheon Nonghyup will be supplied to three Korean marts in the Philippines through Changdae F&B Co., Ltd., a Southeast Asian export-specialized company based in the city. With this, Suncheon aims to captivate the taste buds of Filipino consumers and plans to continuously export a total of 40 tons (worth about $5,000) of Suncheon rice this year.
The "Nanwoori" rice brand means "becoming one by sharing high-quality rice produced by farmers," and is made using the "Saechungmu" variety, which is a representative breed of Jeollanam-do. Under the thorough management of Suncheon City and Suncheon Nonghyup, the processes of production, purchase, storage, processing, and distribution are strictly controlled, earning strong trust from consumers in the rice market.
A city official stated, "The export of Nanwoori rice to Southeast Asia is the result of joint efforts by farmers, Suncheon Nonghyup, Changdae F&B Co., Ltd., and Suncheon City," adding, "We will continue to support the production of safe rice that consumers can trust and enjoy, with taste and quality tailored to their preferences, and will further promote domestic sales and exports of Nanwoori rice."
