Contractor Selected for Cheonan Station Expansion... First Groundbreaking in 22 Years
Yuchang E&C Consortium Wins Bid...
Construction to Begin at the End of April or Early May

View original imageCheonan Station, which had been left neglected for about 22 years due to failures in private sector funding after its opening in 2003, will finally undergo expansion and reconstruction.
The city of Cheonan announced on the 27th that the consortium led by Yuchang E&C Co., Ltd. has been selected as the contractor for the expansion and reconstruction project of Cheonan Station on the Gyeongbu Line.
This consortium is composed of Yuchang E&C (55%), Dongsung Construction (25%), and Myungga Engineering (20%).
They have experience in constructing GTX-A Unjeongjungang Station and its depot, Shinbundang Line Nonhyeon and Sinnonhyeon stations, and Seohae Line Wonjong and Bucheon Sports Complex stations, among others.
The consortium is expected to finalize a contract with the National Railroad Authority around the second week of next month, and break ground between the end of the same month and early May.
Mayor Park Sangdon stated, "Now that the contractor for the expansion and reconstruction project has been selected, we will begin construction as soon as possible as citizens hope," adding, "We expect the new Cheonan Station to become a landmark that revitalizes the old downtown."
Meanwhile, the Cheonan Station expansion and reconstruction project will be funded by a total of 112.1 billion KRW, including 29.9 billion KRW from the national government, 20 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 62.2 billion KRW from the city.
The construction period is expected to be 37 months, with completion anticipated in the first half of 2028.
