Speed Limit Adjusted in School Zones on Hanam-daero (Sinjang Elementary) and Misagangbyeon-daero (Mangwol Elementary)
Nighttime Limit Raised to 50 km/h to Improve Traffic Flow and Reduce Inconvenience
Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 26th that, in cooperation with the Hanam Police Station, the speed limit in two main road school zones has been raised to 50 km/h from 8 PM to 8 AM.
This measure aims to reduce inconvenience for citizens and improve traffic flow by adjusting the speed limits in the school zones on Hanam-daero (Sinjang Elementary School) and Misagangbyeon-daero (Mangwol Elementary School), which are main roads with heavy vehicle traffic.
Previously, these school zones had a 24-hour speed limit of 30 km/h, but with this adjustment, the speed limit will be raised to 50 km/h from 8 PM to 8 AM the following day. This change takes into account the relatively lower vehicle traffic during nighttime hours compared to daytime.
The existing 30 km/h speed limit will be maintained from 8 AM to 8 PM to uphold safety standards for child protection. Installation of safety facilities related to the speed increase is scheduled to be completed by the end of March.
The city and Hanam Police Station conducted surveys targeting parents and local residents from January to February this year to promote this speed limit increase, actively reflecting their opinions.
