Gyeonggi-do Develops Pyeongtaek Port Hinterland Complex After 13 Years
Gyeonggi Province is set to develop the Pyeongtaek Port hinterland complex for the first time in 13 years.
On the 25th, Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority announced that they have begun construction of Phase 2-3 (Type 1) of the Pyeongtaek Port hinterland complex, aiming for completion in 2027.
The scale of the Type 1 hinterland complex under construction this time is 229,093㎡, with an investment of 69 billion KRW. By area, it is classified as ▲38% complex logistics manufacturing facilities ▲27% office convenience facilities ▲35% public facilities.
According to the feasibility review conducted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2021, the project is expected to generate employment effects of 550 jobs, production inducement effects of 119.3 billion KRW, and added value inducement effects of 48 billion KRW.
Notably, this is the first time that Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority has taken the role of the developer for the Pyeongtaek Port hinterland complex.

The Phase 1 hinterland complex not only achieved a 100% sales rate but also fully recovered the investment costs over 13 years.
After Gyeonggi Province took a 52% stake and collaborated with other institutions to develop the port hinterland complex, this time it is the first port hinterland complex developed solely by Gyeonggi Province with 100% investment.
Based on this know-how, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority has taken on the role of developer for the hinterland complex adjacent to the new passenger terminal.
