Jeonju University and Buan County Join Hands to Promote Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System
"Smartization of Agri-Food and Revitalization of the Food Industry"
Jeonju University (President Park Jinbae) and Buan County (Governor Kwon Ikhyeon) signed a business agreement on the 24th at the Buan County Office to facilitate the smooth implementation of the Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (hereinafter referred to as RISE).
According to Jeonju University on the 25th, this agreement was arranged to establish a foundation for mutual development between the local community and the university, with officials from both institutions, including Buan County Governor Kwon Ikhyeon and Jeonju University Vice President for Industry-Academic Affairs Lee Haewon, in attendance.
Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to continue close cooperation for the successful implementation of RISE, including: ▲ development of educational programs for regional industrial development and talent cultivation ▲ activation of industry-academic cooperation through collaboration with local companies and organizations ▲ creation of youth jobs and improvement of local settlement conditions ▲ joint research and project implementation to vitalize the local economy.
With this agreement, both parties will focus on expanding the foundation of the food tech industry, promoting the smartization of agricultural and food products, revitalizing the food industry, and generating a resident population linked to local industries.
Jeonju University will be responsible for technology transfer, product development, and startup support based on its research and educational capabilities, while Buan County will promote the smartization of agricultural and marine food products and foster the agri-food industry by utilizing its abundant agricultural and marine resources, aiming for mutual growth between the region and the university.
Park Jinbae, President of Jeonju University, said, "Through cooperation with Buan County, we will do our best to ensure that the university contributes to the development of the local community and strengthens practical education tailored to regional needs," adding, "We will actively collaborate for sustainable regional innovation and talent cultivation."
Kwon Ikhyeon, Governor of Buan County, stated, "By effectively linking Jeonju University's research capabilities with Buan County's agricultural and marine food resources, we will create a successful cooperation model that goes beyond simple educational and research collaboration to lead regional innovation," and added, "We hope that the cooperation over the next five years will provide real opportunities for growth and change for both institutions."
With this agreement as a starting point, Jeonju University and Buan County plan to operate a regular consultative body and continue joint research and policy development necessary for project implementation.
