Yangju is the hometown of Kim Satgat, while Yeongwol is the place where he wandered throughout his life and took his last breath, making these two regions fatefully connected. They have decided to join hands to open the door to cooperation in various fields such as culture, economy, and tourism.
This meeting was arranged as a meaningful time to envision the future of the two regions together, beyond simple exchanges.
Yeongwol County possesses abundant tourist resources such as Jangneung, Cheongnyeongpo, and the Kim Satgat Literature Museum, and is promoting various development strategies utilizing these assets.
The two institutions plan to build a mutually complementary cooperative system by leveraging the strengths of each region in the future.
Yangju City expects that if broad cooperation encompassing culture, economy, and industry is realized, it will become a ‘mutually prosperous partnership’ that transcends time.
Moreover, the schedule on that day did not end with mere discussions.
The delegation visited Seoul Milk Yangju Factory and Hoheup Temple Site Museum in sequence, directly experiencing Yangju City’s industry and cultural heritage, further solidifying the historical bond, according to reports.
Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyun said, “Kim Satgat was not just a poet but a figure who satirized the era and navigated the world with a free spirit,” adding, “Yangju and Yeongwol will be able to inherit his spirit and build a deeper cooperative relationship.”
He continued, “I hope this meeting will not end as a one-time exchange but serve as an opportunity to establish a practical model for mutual growth.”
