Governor Kim Youngrok Pledges Cooperation with Thai Ambassador to Korea Tanee Sangrat
Expanding Exchanges in Various Fields Including Economy, Culture, and Tourism

View original imageKim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, met with Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to Korea, in the governor's office on the 17th to discuss ways to cooperate in various fields such as economy, culture, and tourism between Jeollanam-do and Thailand. The meeting was held to further strengthen mutual cooperation, expand exchanges, and promote mutual understanding between Thailand and Jeollanam-do.
Governor Kim expressed his deep condolences for the two Thai nationals who lost their lives in the recent Jeju Air accident and especially conveyed his gratitude for Ambassador Tanee Sangrat's visit to the joint memorial altar at Muan International Airport in January.
Governor Kim emphasized, "We consider exchanges with Thailand, which has a rich historical and cultural heritage, to be very important, and we will continue to work to further promote cooperation, especially in agriculture, tourism, and human exchanges."
He also introduced a variety of international events hosted by Jeollanam-do, such as the 2025 Jeonnam International Ink Biennale (August to October), the Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo (October), the International Agricultural Expo (October), and the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo (September to October 2026), requesting interest and participation.
Governor Kim also proposed efforts to grow together in the energy industry sector.
In response, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat said, "By visiting various institutions in Jeollanam-do, we will seek multifaceted cooperation measures to further develop friendly relations between the two sides," and added, "We hope that exchanges and cooperation between Jeollanam-do and Thailand will continue in various fields, including tourism, steel, chemicals, energy, space, advanced industries, and the economy."
Through this visit, Jeollanam-do plans to further strengthen its relationship with Thailand and expand cultural and economic cooperation between the two sides in the future.
