Korea Federation of SMEs Holds '11th Regional SME Chairpersons Appointment Ceremony'
The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the 17th that it held the 11th Regional SME Chairpersons Appointment Ceremony at the Federation's Yeouido headquarters.
The Regional SME Chairperson system has been introduced and operated since 2007 to strengthen the representation of local small and medium-sized enterprises. It is an unpaid honorary position with a term of up to two years, appointed by the Federation President after a screening committee reviews candidates who are either nominated or recommended by regular members in each region.
The newly appointed Regional SME Chairpersons will serve as opinion leaders representing the local SME sector for two years, playing a role in resolving current issues and enhancing the status of SMEs, small business owners, and cooperatives.

Kim Gi-moon, President of the Korea Federation of SMEs, stated, “The role of Regional SME Chairpersons is crucial for revitalizing small business owners and SMEs, which are the foundation of the regional economy,” and urged, “Please strengthen communication and cooperation with local governments, the National Assembly, and others to improve field difficulties faced by SMEs and to resolve key policy tasks.”
