Weekend Seoul Downtown Impeachment Rally and Marathon Event... "Please Use Public Transportation" (Comprehensive)
This weekend, impeachment rallies and a marathon event will be held in various parts of downtown Seoul, causing expected traffic congestion.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 14th, pro-impeachment groups such as the Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of Yoon Seok-yeol and Social Reform (Emergency Action) will hold a rally on the 15th afternoon around Sajik-ro and then march to Biwon Intersection. Anti-impeachment groups, including the Liberty Unification Party, will hold rallies from Sejong Intersection to Daehanmun. The conservative Christian group Save Korea will conduct a large-scale rally and march on Uisadang-daero in Yeongdeungpo-gu.
The 2025 Seoul Marathon, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Korea Association of Athletics Federations, and the Dong-A Ilbo on the 16th, will sequentially restrict traffic from Gwanghwamun Square to Jamsil Sports Complex.
Traffic will be restricted on Sejong-daero from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM, on downtown roads such as Euljiro, Cheonggyecheon-ro, and Jongno from 7:50 AM to 11:11 AM, and on the sections near Sinseol-dong Station, Gunja Bridge, Jamsil Bridge, and Jamsil Sports Complex from 8:59 AM to 1:30 PM. The 10 km course, which starts at Jamsil Sports Complex and returns after turning around at Garak Market Station intersection, will have traffic restrictions from 5:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
On the day of the marathon, 1,651 personnel including traffic police will be deployed to focus on vehicle flow, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to temporarily adjust bus routes within the restricted areas.
