Sookmyung Women's University announced on the 13th that it is the only university newly entering this project this year and will receive a total of 720 million KRW in project funding over the next four years.
The Leading University for Unification Education project aims to develop excellent models and programs for university unification education to raise university students' awareness of unification and cultivate creative future talents.
The Sookmyung Women's University Law Research Institute plans to nurture talents equipped with knowledge, virtue, and physical strength, based on the core values of 'freedom, citizenship, balance, and coexistence.'
Woo Byung-chang, director of the Law Research Institute at Sookmyung Women's University, emphasized, "The unification of the Korean Peninsula is not merely about territorial connection between the South and the North but about overcoming the walls of conflict existing in various fields."
He added, "Leveraging the geographical advantage of being located in the heart of Seoul and 120 years of educational experience, we will establish a linkage system with existing leading universities for unification education and position ourselves as a hub for unification education."
Meanwhile, Sookmyung Women's University is the only women's university that has both Army and Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) programs.
