Bok Ayoung, Cheonan City Council Member, Says "Improvements Needed for Personnel Hearing Shortcomings"
Proposals for System Establishment, Citizen Participation, and Follow-up Review
Bok Ayoung, a member of the Cheonan City Council in Chungnam, stated on the 10th, "There is a need to address shortcomings in the personnel hearing process."
During a five-minute free speech at the 278th temporary session, Councilor Bok proposed the establishment of a systematic process and increased citizen participation.
She said, "Now that personnel hearings are being implemented, we must move beyond mere formalities and establish detailed procedures for practical operation, as well as build a systematic framework. We should also introduce governance that includes both experts and ordinary citizens, so that candidates can be evaluated from diverse perspectives."
She continued, "Even after the appointment of candidates, we need to review whether issues raised during the hearings and promised improvements are actually being implemented. We must work to address legal shortcomings and enhance the effectiveness of the hearings."
Meanwhile, among the institutions in Cheonan City, those with heads whose terms are about to expire include the Cheonan Science and Industry Promotion Agency, Cheonan Welfare Foundation, Cheonan Citizen Professional Football Club (Cheonan City FC), and Cheonan Youth Foundation.
