Imsil County to Inspect 'Environmental Pollutant Emission Businesses' Starting This Month
Compliance with Permitted Standards and Other Requirements
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province has established an integrated guidance and inspection plan for facilities that emit environmental pollutants this year, and after prior notification, will begin full-scale guidance and inspections starting this month.
According to the county on the 7th, the prior notification system is a policy that allows businesses to self-inspect their environmental management practices in order to prevent pollution and reduce the burden of unexpected inspections. However, cases involving public complaints or special inspections are excluded from this system.
Despite this prior notification, if major violations such as unauthorized discharge of wastewater or non-operation of pollution prevention facilities are discovered, strong administrative actions will be taken.
The main inspection items include compliance with emission standards for discharge facilities, proper operation and maintenance of pollution prevention facilities, and keeping operation logs for these facilities. Facilities that are subject to intensive management or are considered likely to leak pollutants will be subject to on-site guidance and inspections at any time.
Previously, the county conducted on-site inspections of pollutant-emitting businesses last year and took administrative actions against four facilities, including one suspension of use and one prosecution.
County Governor Sim Min stated, "We will continue to conduct inspections of pollutant-emitting businesses so that residents can live in a pleasant natural environment, and will take the lead in realizing a clean Imsil."
