Gift Certificates Provided for School Supplies and Essentials
Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) will provide gift certificates that can be used to purchase shoes, bags, and other items to new elementary, middle, and high school students from vulnerable groups within the district.
This project is organized by the Dongjak Welfare Foundation, which selected the final recipients after verifying income criteria based on recommendations from 15 community service centers. The recipients are a total of 150 new students from households with income at or below 120% of the median income, and each student will receive gift certificates worth approximately 100,000 KRW.
The gift certificates can be used at designated stores within Seongdae Market in the district until May 31 of this year. The community service center staff will deliver the gift certificates to the recipients.
Meanwhile, the district also provides entrance preparation funds to first-grade students enrolled in elementary, middle, and high schools within Seoul. To help purchase necessary items such as uniforms, school supplies, and books, 200,000 KRW is provided for elementary students and 300,000 KRW for middle and high school students.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, “This new student support project was established to reduce the burden on parents and help children grow up healthy and bright,” adding, “We will continue to develop various policies to enhance youth welfare and create a supportive environment for childbirth and child-rearing.”
