They must be installed in institutions mandated by law and regularly inspected to ensure proper functioning, maintaining readiness for immediate use in emergencies.
According to Article 47-2, Paragraph 3 of the Emergency Medical Service Act, institutions required to have AEDs must inspect the equipment at least once a month and report the results to the relevant mayor, county governor, or district head.
Furthermore, under Article 62 of the same law, failure to report inspection results may result in fines of up to 3 million KRW. This regulation will be enforced starting August 17, 2025. Accordingly, all obligated institutions must strictly comply with legal requirements to avoid penalties.
