Gumi-si Accelerates Barefoot Path Maintenance for Spring Welcome
Citizens Anticipate a New "Healing Spot"
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk has begun full-scale maintenance of barefoot walking trails to promote citizens' health and healing in the spring season. Maintenance work is being carried out on nine barefoot trails in the area, which attract an average of 4,000 visitors daily.
Since the 24th of last month, the city has been replenishing lost loess and sandy soil, and performing rotary (cultivating) work using watering and mini cultivators on the loess paths to enhance visitor safety. This is a proactive measure to respond to the increased demand for experiences in spring.
Reflecting the high interest of citizens in health and healing since 2023, the city is accelerating the creation of barefoot trails by region.
Currently, barefoot trails are operated at nine locations: Jisan Saetgang Ecological Park, Hyeonggok Park, Namtong Facility Green Space, Bonggok Theme Park, Sagok Mulkkot Park, Haemaru Park, Okgae Dodam Park, Sandong Uhahng Park, and Goa Deulseong Park. This year, three more locations, including Indong Majeji Ecological Park, are planned to be added.
