False Entries in Management Evaluation... Gyeongnam Election Commission Files Complaint Against Saemaeul Geumgo Chairman Candidate
The Gyeongnam Election Commission has reported a candidate for the chairman of a Saemaeul Geumgo in the Gyeongnam region to the police on charges of disseminating false information ahead of the 1st nationwide simultaneous Saemaeul Geumgo chairman election.
According to the Gyeongnam Election Commission on the 4th, candidate A is accused of falsely stating the management evaluation grade in the election brochure sent to voters or sent via mobile messenger at the end of last month.
Article 61 of the Entrusted Election Act stipulates that if a candidate, their spouse, lineal ascendants or descendants, or siblings publish false information in election brochures or by other means to benefit the candidate or to get elected, they shall be punished by imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million won.

A representative of the Gyeongnam Election Commission said, "As the election day approaches, illegal election campaigns are expected to occur frequently," adding, "We will devote all efforts to crack down and take strict measures against serious election crimes such as the dissemination of false information that undermines election fairness."
