Expansion of Entry Quotas for Paju DMZ Peace Tourism... Revitalizing the Local Livelihood Economy
Tourist Bus Operations Expanded
from 65 to 90 Buses per Day Starting in March
Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced that the number of visitors for Paju's representative security tourism, 'DMZ Peace Tourism' (hereinafter Peace Tourism), which explores security tourist sites such as the Third Tunnel and Dora Observatory, will be increased starting from the 4th.
Currently, Peace Tourism operates with 65 tourist buses per day, but during peak seasons when foreign visitors surge, tickets often sell out, causing some visitors to turn away.
Accordingly, Paju City has agreed to expand the number of tourist entries after several consultations with the military and related organizations. From March, when the weather warms and tourists increase, the number of tourist buses will be expanded from 65 to 90 per day.
Peace Tourism has repeatedly been suspended for several years due to African Swine Fever, COVID-19, and domestic and international circumstances. This expansion of visitor capacity is expected to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant for a long time.
