Preparation for Large-Scale March 1st Movement Rallies... Seoul Subway Implements Top-Level Safety Measures
Deployment of 127 Safety Personnel at 8 Stations and Other Measures
Seoul Metro announced on the 27th that it will implement the highest level of safety measures from March 1, the March 1st Movement Day, until the date of the impeachment trial verdict for President Yoon Seok-yeol, to prevent safety accidents caused by large-scale downtown rallies.
The company will deploy 127 safety personnel for safety management and guidance at eight stations where an increase in passengers is expected on March 1: City Hall Station on Lines 1 and 2; Anguk Station and Gyeongbokgung Station on Line 3; and Gwanghwamun Station, Yeouido Station, Yeouinaru Station, and Singil Station on Line 5. This is an increase of 99 personnel compared to normal times. At these stations, non-stop passage may be implemented during passenger saturation and congestion, and measures such as entrance closures may also be enforced.
The company will operate a safety control room to monitor congestion situations in real time and, if necessary, organize temporary trains and deploy additional subway cars to alleviate congestion.
Before the rallies, facility inspections will be strengthened to prevent safety accidents. Elevators, escalators, and other passenger convenience facilities as well as major facilities within the stations will be inspected, and the attachment of guide signs will be carefully checked.
Seoul Metro will also inform the public about station and train operations according to congestion situations through various media such as social networking services (SNS).
