In the video, the marine creature appears as a round lump, with a smooth, mucus-like surface and a grayish hue. Its appearance reminded viewers of a skull or the head of an alien from a sci-fi movie.
The video quickly gained hundreds of thousands of views and became a major topic online. Netizens who saw the video reacted with comments such as "100% alien," "Proof that aliens exist," and "Kill it, burn it, and never let it come back."

Known for its ugly appearance, the smooth lumpsucker is a marine fish of the Cyclopteridae family in the order Scorpaeniformes, called 'dochi' or 'simtungi' in Korea. It is a cold-water species living at depths of 100 to 200 meters and is widely distributed in temperate waters of the North Pacific, including Korea, Japan, the Bering Sea, and around Canada. In Korea, smooth lumpsuckers are cooked in various ways such as duruchigi (stir-fry), altang (roe soup), boiled, or steamed dishes.
