Gyeonggi Fire Department Prepares Spring Fire Prevention Measures... Highest 'Fire Incidence Rate' in March
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will establish and implement a ‘Spring Fire Prevention Plan’ from March to May. This is because the headquarters analyzed spring fires over the past five years and found that spring fires averaged 2,337 cases annually, accounting for 27.9% of all fires, with March having the highest monthly fire occurrence rate at 10.2%.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters is focusing on strengthening prevention activities centered on fire-vulnerable facilities and will first conduct the ‘Making Our Apartment Evacuation Plan Campaign’ to ensure safety in residential facilities. Additionally, single alarm-type detectors, fire extinguishers, and smoke evacuation masks will be provided to households such as basic livelihood security recipients and those with disabilities.
Furthermore, fire facility inspections will be expanded for facilities for the elderly, children’s daycare centers, and facilities for the disabled, and fire safety education will be conducted for related personnel.
Large construction sites will also be checked for the appointment and placement of fire safety managers, and safety guidelines will be strengthened when handling fire sources such as welding and cutting.
In particular, fire facility and evacuation route inspections will be intensified at large-scale events with many attendees during the spring season, and preventive patrols will be expanded at traditional temples and local festival sites.
Unannounced fire safety inspections will be conducted at fire-vulnerable facilities such as goshiwon, bathhouses, and lodging facilities, and any issues found will be immediately corrected.
In addition, to raise public safety awareness, promotional activities such as the ‘Careless Fire Prevention Campaign’ will be actively carried out in public places.
