30,059 Degrees Awarded This Year Through Academic Credit Bank and Self-Study Degree Systems
Online Graduation Ceremony to Be Held on the 25th
This year, more than 38,000 people obtained degrees through the 'Academic Credit Bank System,' which recognizes learning and qualifications acquired inside and outside of school as academic credits.
The Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education (NILE) announced on the 25th via NILE's YouTube channel that they will hold the '2025 Academic Credit Bank System and Self-taught Degree System Graduation Ceremony.'
At this graduation ceremony, a total of 38,059 individuals will receive degrees under the name of the Minister of Education, including 37,499 bachelor's and associate degrees through the Academic Credit Bank System and 560 bachelor's degrees through the Self-taught Degree System.
Among those who obtained degrees through the Academic Credit Bank System this year, 22,118 (59.0%) are learners who challenged themselves to acquire new degrees and qualifications or for self-development after graduating from universities or junior colleges. For the Self-taught Degree System graduates, 320 workers (57.1%) who are balancing work and study to develop job competencies and prepare for the future were identified.
At this graduation ceremony, six individuals, including Mr. Kim who earned an associate degree through the Academic Credit Bank System with excellent academic performance, will be awarded the grand prize and excellence awards. Fourteen individuals, including Ms. Park who earned a bachelor's degree while balancing work and childcare, will receive special awards.
Meanwhile, as of February this year, the cumulative number of adult learners who have obtained degrees through the Self-taught Degree System and the Academic Credit Bank System has reached 1,198,784.
