Cheonan City Digitizes Photos of Cha Bumkun's Activities from the 1990s
“Continuous Promotion of Digital Archiving for the Football History Museum”
Cheonan City in Chungnam announced on the 24th that it has delivered the original digital files of 31 photographs depicting Cha Bumkun, former national team coach, in action during the 1990s.
This project was prepared to systematically preserve football-related historical materials ahead of the museum's opening.
The city is also digitizing materials related to other football legends, including former coach Choi Soonho.
Additionally, materials on key figures such as coach Kim Heetae, who was the mentor of player Park Jisung, and the Kim Jeongnam and Kim Seongnam brothers, are also being collected.
The digital archive will be established so that it can be viewed in person after the museum opens, and future online access is also being considered.
Curator Lee Kibaek explained, "Due to the nature of the museum, we must continuously collect and preserve materials from former players. In particular, materials from before the 1990s are rarely available in video format, so we are meeting veteran players directly to digitize printed photographs."
He added, "Currently, we are preparing for visitors to view the materials at the museum in person, but once conditions allow, we plan to make them accessible online as well."
