Yoo Seung-min: "Majority theory that trials will be suspended if Lee Jae-myung becomes president?... Nonsense"
Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min questioned on the 21st, "They say the majority opinion is that trials are suspended if Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party leader, becomes president, but who decided this 'majority opinion'?"
Through Facebook on the same day, Yoo asked, "It's ridiculous to see Lee acting as if he is already president, drinking kimchi soup beforehand. If trials are suspended when becoming president and resumed after the term, confirming a prison sentence, is he running for president to go to prison after his term?"
Yoo continued, "Article 84 of the Constitution states, 'The president shall not be subject to criminal prosecution during the term of office except in cases of rebellion or treason,' because they never imagined an absurd situation where a criminal suspect like Lee Jae-myung would become president," adding, "The very fact that such talk is happening about trials during the term is a shameful matter that lowers the dignity of the Republic of Korea. Both Lee and the Democratic Party should be ashamed."
