Data home shopping company SK Stoa announced on the 20th that it will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) voice synthesis technology in the TV home shopping audio sector. Utilizing AI allows for broadcast script modifications without the need for post-recording, thereby enhancing production efficiency.

View original imageAI voice synthesis technology refers to using AI to perform precise post-production work when voice corrections for show hosts are needed. Previously, if script modifications were required after filming, parts had to be re-recorded or the show host had to perform post-recording (recording lines to match the footage after filming) themselves.
There were challenges not only in terms of manpower and costs for the correction process but also in faithfully reproducing the original tone. However, with the adoption of AI voice synthesis technology, quick and natural script modifications are possible without re-recording, thereby improving production efficiency.
SK Stoa has been conducting voice tests with show hosts since last year to introduce this technology. Since the second half of last year, AI voice synthesis technology has been applied to some fashion broadcast programs for price and color script corrections and promotion content changes. This year, the company plans to gradually expand the use of AI voice synthesis technology by advancing the technology, including precise timing corrections based on pronunciation.
SK Stoa is also utilizing AI for essential voice actor narration and background music in product sales broadcasts. AI voice actor technology is currently used for insurance product terms and conditions notifications, which require delivering a large amount of information quickly and accurately. AI voice actors have completely replaced traditional voice actors or show host narrations for product explanations, achieving cost savings of over 90% compared to previous methods.
AI music production is also being used for background music, an essential element in home shopping broadcast production. Previously, background music production involved a lengthy process from lyric writing and composition to recording, editing, and broadcasting, which required significant time and cost. Since adopting AI, music reflecting product characteristics can be produced more efficiently.
