K-Organic Foods Hold $18.49 Million Export Consultations at German Organic Expo
The National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (NAQS) announced on the 19th that it participated in the international organic fair held in Nuremberg, Germany from the 11th to the 14th, together with organic food export companies, achieving export consultation deals worth 18.49 million USD with overseas buyers.
The Germany International Organic Fair is the world's largest international organic fair, with over 2,300 organic food exhibitors from 94 countries worldwide and approximately 35,000 visitors including buyers from 140 countries. This is the first time the Korean government has led participation together with organic processed food companies.

NAQS supported the participating companies by renting and setting up booths, customs clearance of exhibits, interpretation, production of catalogs (directory books), and pre-promotion to overseas buyers. Due to growing interest in K-organic processed foods, consultations were held with 165 buyer companies in 201 cases. NAQS expects these consultations to serve as a significant stepping stone for export expansion.
At this fair, in collaboration with the Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Fund Management Committee, an integrated Korean pavilion was formed to promote Korea's eco-friendly agriculture. Various organic food tasting events were held featuring dried sweet potatoes, barley tea, rice snacks for infants and toddlers, rice syrup, soju, green tea latte, pear balloon flower tea, and sword bean tea. A NAQS official explained, "Overseas buyers visiting the Korean pavilion expressed purchase intentions for the tasting products," adding, "Besides the tasting products, there was demand for organic ginseng powder and red pepper powder, confirming that K-organic foods are capturing the tastes of people worldwide."
NAQS is systematically supporting domestic organic processed food companies to actively explore overseas markets for the development of Korea's eco-friendly agriculture. To this end, since last year, it has supported the formation of the Korea Organic Food Export Council and facilitated overseas local export consultation meetings and online export consultation meetings. The Export Council is also registered as an agricultural food marketing council led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, raising expectations for active overseas expansion.
