The "Gwangju Seo-gu Public Opinion Survey Ordinance," proposed by Council Member Baek Jonghan of the Seo-gu Council in Gwangju during the 328th temporary session, passed the standing committee on the 18th.
According to the Seo-gu Council, the ordinance, spearheaded by Council Member Baek, focuses on ensuring that policies reflect the opinions of residents by outlining necessary procedures for conducting public opinion surveys on major policies and community issues within Seo-gu. The main contents of the ordinance include: ▲scope of application for public opinion surveys ▲exceptions to application ▲survey methods ▲disclosure of survey results, among others.
Baek stated, "I hope this ordinance will serve as a foundation for grassroots democracy by gathering residents' opinions," adding, "I expect it will contribute to transparent and trustworthy administration by systematically and fairly collecting residents' opinions for Seo-gu Office's policy direction and council policy review."
