Laying the Foundation for Glocal Education
Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Tashkent Korean Education Center on the 17th in the main office business room to strengthen cooperation in the education and educational support of descendants of Koryoin.
This agreement was promoted with the aim of revitalizing international exchanges based on Korean language education by the Provincial Office of Education and expanding Korean language education in Uzbekistan.

View original imageThe two institutions plan to carry out cooperative projects such as supporting international exchange activities of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, supporting exchanges between educational institutions in Jeonnam and Uzbekistan, cooperating to promote Korean language education and Korean culture in Uzbekistan, exchanging educational materials, and jointly developing educational programs.
The Provincial Office of Education has been operating as a pilot education office for revitalizing international exchanges based on Korean language education since the '2024 Korea Glocal Future Education Expo.' Through this, it is expanding support for Korean language and vocational education for Koryoin descendant students, honoring the noble spirit of Koryoin through education for their descendants, and conducting exchanges with educational institutions in Uzbekistan, such as operating the Jeonnam Reading Humanities School.
In particular, Koryoin descendants and Uzbek students will be provided with the opportunity to receive vocational education, Korean language education, and K-culture education in Jeonnam for three years.
Superintendent Kim Daejung said, "Through this agreement, I hope to strengthen cooperation between institutions and provide an opportunity for students from Jeonnam and Uzbekistan to grow together," and added, "We will actively support cooperation with the Tashkent Korean Education Center for glocal Jeonnam education where the region and the world coexist."
