At around 2:35 a.m. on the 7th, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 occurred 22 km northwest of Chungju, Chungbuk Province, resulting in 15 reports of felt tremors, including 14 in Wonju and 1 in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province.

View original imageIn response, Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Province, ordered a swift response and emphasized the importance of carrying out duties with a sense of mission to ensure the safety of the residents.
Governor Kim instructed, "Respond quickly to prevent residents from feeling anxious, assess any damage, inspect key facilities, and thoroughly prepare for possible aftershocks."
He also stated, "This earthquake occurred during heavy snowfall and cold waves in the early morning, which has increased the difficulty of disaster management," and urged, "Please carry out your duties with a sense of mission to do your best for the safety of the residents."
