Jin Gyohoon, Gangseo-gu Mayor, Conducts Safety Inspection at Kkachisan Station Site
Emphasizing Countermeasures During On-Site Visit After Safety Accidents
Elevator Installation Scheduled for Completion in June This Year
Jin Gyo-hoon, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, visited Kkachisan Station on Subway Line 5 on the 4th to inspect the safety management of facilities. This visit was prompted by a series of safety accidents, including a fall accident on the escalator inside the station and a travel suitcase falling incident that occurred at the end of last year.

He moved along the residents' movement path to the platform, checking for any hazards or areas for improvement to enhance residents' convenience, as well as verifying the proper operation of the emergency control device for the platform screen doors.
Mayor Jin emphasized, “Like Heinrich's Law, repeated warning signs and minor accidents can lead to major accidents,” and stressed, “It is necessary to establish countermeasures to prevent similar accidents and build a close cooperative system among agencies for rapid communication in case of safety accidents.”
On the same day, Mayor Jin also visited the elevator construction site connecting the basement first-floor concourse and the basement fifth-floor platform to check the progress. Until now, Kkachisan Station lacked an elevator that directly connects the concourse to the platform, causing significant inconvenience for transportation-vulnerable individuals. Thanks to the district's continuous efforts and active support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, construction began in 2023 and is scheduled for completion in June this year.
