The National Library of Korea under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced the first set of 8 librarian-recommended books of the year.
In the literature category, the selected books are ▲Orange and Bread Knife ▲Swearing to Me the Lie Called Truth; in the humanities and arts category, ▲The Art of Thinking ▲Addiction to Perfection; in the social sciences category, ▲Read the Constitution at Least Once in Your Lifetime ▲How Technology Changes the World; and in the natural sciences category, ▲The Great Observations ▲Why Do Scissors Look Like Scissors?
In the literature category, Orange and Bread Knife delicately unravels suppressed social relationships and personal emotions through the protagonist, a kindergarten teacher, reflecting on the essence of freedom and control.
In the humanities and arts category, Addiction to Perfection deeply addresses the widespread issue of perfectionism in modern society, analyzing its negative impacts on individuals and society. Furthermore, it offers concrete solutions and insights on how to overcome perfectionism.
In the natural sciences category, The Great Observations contains the life and natural insights of Jean-Henri Fabre, known for his work Fabre’s Insect Chronicles. His attentive gaze toward small life forms provides an opportunity to feel the wonder and inspiration of life.
