Kwon Seong-dong: "There Are Many Ruling Party Candidates Comparable to Lee Jae-myung... Worth Competing Against"
On the 24th, Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, said that if an early presidential election is held, the candidates from the People Power Party can "fight well enough" against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who is leading in various opinion polls.
In an interview with SBS's 'Pyeon Sang-wook's News Briefing' on the same day, Floor Leader Kwon stated, "The public has begun to recognize the reality of Lee Jae-myung. (That) is being reflected in the opinion poll ratings," asserting this point.

He added, "Our party is not considering an early presidential election," but continued, "If, by any chance, an early election takes place, many candidates from our party will come out and compete, which will draw public interest to our party. Since the Democratic Party has a one-man system centered on Lee Jae-myung, there is no longer any interest in their primary."
Regarding Lee's 'pragmatic' message delivered at a press conference the day before, Floor Leader Kwon evaluated, "His approval ratings are stuck in a box range, and it seems he announced this to try to break out of it."
