Bank of Korea Gwangju Jeonnam Branch to Supply Currency Ahead of Lunar New Year

A 15% Increase Compared to Last Year
The Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Bank of Korea announced on the 24th that it supplied 571.7 billion won in currency to financial institutions in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions over a 10-day period starting from the 13th, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This amount represents an increase of 75.5 billion won (15.2%) compared to 496.2 billion won during the same period last year.
By denomination, 50,000-won notes accounted for 445.2 billion won, an increase of 141 billion won from last year’s 304.2 billion won, while 10,000-won notes totaled 112.2 billion won, a decrease of 69.8 billion won compared to last year’s 182 billion won.
The net issuance, calculated by subtracting the amount collected from the amount issued, was 539.7 billion won, an increase of 75 billion won (16.1%) compared to last year’s 464.7 billion won.
