This year marks the first year of the 3rd Regional Balanced Development Project (2025?2029), with 52.3 billion KRW of provincial funds allocated to 25 projects (3 in Gapyeong-gun, 7 in Yangpyeong-gun, 4 in Yeoncheon-gun, 5 in Pocheon-si, 4 in Yeoju-si, and 2 in Dongducheon-si).
The 2025 regional balanced development projects were selected comprehensively considering their linkage with the northern and eastern large-scale development plans and comprehensive development plans for each city and county, regional development ripple effects, feasibility, local residents’ long-standing demands, and beneficiary impact. Among the 25 projects, 12 are linked with Gyeonggi’s northern and eastern large-scale development, local extinction response fund projects, and border area support projects, aiming to drive growth momentum in underdeveloped areas through connections with the province’s wide-area policies and projects.
Key projects include △ 3 projects in Gapyeong-gun such as the ‘Expansion of Gapyeong Integrated Water Purification Plant’ △ 7 projects in Yangpyeong-gun such as the ‘Creation of Mulangae Park’ △ 4 projects in Yeoncheon-gun such as the ‘Creation of Yeoncheon World Peace Garden (Dapsariwon)’ △ 5 projects in Pocheon-si such as the ‘Installation of Greenway Pedestrian Bridge’ △ 4 projects in Yeoju-si such as the ‘Improvement of Parking Environment in Ganggcheon Island Gulam-ri’ △ 2 projects in Dongducheon-si such as the ‘Creation of Soyonaeum Park.’ Gyeonggi Province has allocated project budgets at scales that can be executed within the year through thorough and meticulous review for each project.
The province plans to collaborate with the ‘Gyeonggi Province Regional Balanced Development Support Center,’ launched in May last year, to support rapid project implementation through assistance with administrative procedures and consulting for each city and county, and will ensure continuous progress and safety management so that all projects can be completed as planned.
Meanwhile, the 3rd Regional Balanced Development Project (2025?2029) is a project supporting six cities and counties with a total of 360 billion KRW in provincial funds over five years starting in 2025. Last October, strategic projects worth 240 billion KRW were finalized according to the 3rd Regional Balanced Development Basic Plan. Additionally, from 2026, based on evaluations of past project outcomes and progress, performance projects worth 120 billion KRW will be promoted targeting the six cities and counties.
