The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 21st that it held a meeting of the Citizens' Grievance Committee Candidate Recommendation Committee on the 16th, appointed and commissioned recommendation committee members, and will actively promote the public recruitment of members for the Citizens' Grievance Committee.

View original imageGuri City has been operating the Citizens' Grievance Committee, which independently investigates and handles grievances from citizens related to city-affiliated and related organizations from a third-party perspective, to strengthen the protection of citizens' rights and interests. The related ordinance was enacted in September 2024, and preparations are steadily underway with the goal of launching the committee in the first half of this year.
The six recommendation committee members appointed and commissioned this time will review and decide on the recruitment plan for the Citizens' Grievance Committee and directly participate in the interview process, thereby enhancing the fairness and transparency of the entire recruitment process.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said in his opening remarks at the meeting, "The capabilities of the candidates are paramount for the successful establishment of the newly launched Citizens' Grievance Committee as a system," adding, "We will spare no interest and support for the Citizens' Grievance Committee to elevate citizen-centered administrative values to the next level."

Meanwhile, the city plans to post a public recruitment announcement on its website on February 3rd to appoint qualified applicants. The eligibility requirements include meeting at least one of the following: associate professor or higher at a university or research institute; legal professional (judge, prosecutor, lawyer); retired public official of grade 4 or higher; professional certification holders with experience (architecture, taxation, accounting, technology, patent attorney); or recommended by a civic organization.
