Gwangju Nam-gu to Provide Emergency Medical Services at District Office and Rural Health Center During Lunar New Year Holiday
Medicines Available at 115 Pharmacies During the Holiday
Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 21st that in order to maintain a seamless medical response system during the Lunar New Year holiday, the district health center and two rural clinics will provide emergency medical services.
The health center and clinics operated by the district office will be open on each respective day from the 28th to the 30th. To provide medical care for residents in rural areas with limited hospital facilities, each clinic will be open for consultations from the 28th to the 30th. The consultation hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The clinic director will be present at the clinic and will mainly treat outpatients with mild symptoms.
Nam-gu Health Center will provide emergency medical services for one day on the 29th. Outpatients seeking medical care can visit the 5th floor of the district office between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. During the Lunar New Year holiday, there will be 115 pharmacies in the area where medicines can be purchased.
The opening dates of each pharmacy may vary. Residents in urgent need of a pharmacy can check the operating dates and hours through the E-GEN integrated website or the Nam-gu District Office website notice board, which provide information on the emergency medical services of pharmacies and hospitals/clinics.
In addition, Nam-gu will implement emergency duty from the 25th to the 30th to prevent and manage food poisoning. An investigation team will also be operated to prevent the spread and conduct epidemiological investigations in the event of a food poisoning outbreak.
To prevent infectious diseases, disinfection work such as the removal of larval habitats and the application of larvicide will be carried out until the 24th at 90 hygiene-vulnerable locations in the district, including public restrooms, flood-prone areas, and recreation sites.
A Nam-gu official stated, "We will do our best to ensure that residents and visitors returning to their hometowns can spend the holiday without inconvenience through emergency medical services and on-duty pharmacies during the Lunar New Year holiday."
